The goal of the event is to strengthen lifeguard skills and promote aquatics health and safety among the citizens of Greater Dayton. Waddles the Duck, the Red Cross's new aquatics mascot will be on hand to focus attention on increasing participation in swim classes and to raise awareness regarding the importance of lifeguards and constant supervision at public and private pools in Dayton and the surrounding area.
"Waddles the Duck would not be available to the Chapter were it not for the generosity of our corporate partners at LexisNexis," stated Tom Fodor, CEO, American Red Cross Dayton Area Chapter. "The Red Cross could not achieve its local mission without the support of our area residents, businesses, political leaders and non-profit organizations. LexisNexis contributed more than $4,000 to bring Waddles to Dayton and the impact that this mascot program may have on saving young lives and promoting aquatics safety is immeasurable."
