Dayton Area Regional Chapter Overview
The Dayton Area Chapter is among the nation’s top fifty Red Cross service providers. Created in 1917, the Chapter is no stranger to Highly Performing Service. The Chapter was recognized as the Dayton Business Journal’s 2005 Not For Profit Business Of The Year and was a 2009 finalist for the same honor. The Chapter was nominated for the 2010 Better Business Bureau Eclipse Award for operational integrity. During the four years in which the National organization used a balanced scorecard, the Chapter was the only operation in Ohio to be recognized as “Highly Performing” for two consecutive years. This designation was achieved by only 10% of Chapters nationwide.
On July 1, 2011 the Dayton Region and the Cincinnati Region joined forces forming a new 36-county region that extends from Sidney and Bellfontaine, OH to the north down to Owen County, KY; also covering counties in Indiana. This region is now the state’s 2nd largest regional operation and a proud United Way Partner Agency.

The Dayton Area serves a population of 1.2 million in eleven counties. Each of the five Community Chapters reports to the Dayton CEO.

The Darke County Community Chapter (Greenville) is a past recipient of the “Highly Performing” Chapter Performance Scorecard rating. The Mad River Community Chapter (West Liberty and Urbana) now functions as two separate county offices serving Logan and Champaign Counties. It is the only Chapter in the grouping with blood collection responsibility. (Sheri Timmers, Logan County Director and Greg Peters, Champaign County Director). http://madriverredcross.org/
The Northern Miami Valley Community Chapter (Troy) is the Dayton Area Region’s second largest operation. Its community visibility is a main factor in securing significant support from the six United Way agencies which serve Miami and Shelby Counties. The Wayne/Union County Community Chapter (Richmond, IN) has been reborn thanks to a revived Board and an outstanding staff. In the past year the Chapter has revamped its building, formed disaster action teams, secured a response vehicle, and created several fundraising projects.
